Live Creatively – Choose Curiosity

Brené Brown says, “Unused creativity is not benign. It metastasizes. It turns into grief, rage, judgment, sorrow, shame.” This highlights how essential it is for us to express our creativity.  However, sometimes through having our creativity stifled early in life we are unsure how to express it.  Recent research suggests that the easiest way to start living more creatively is through following our curiosity. Curiosity might be an inkling about something, a small spark, an innate feeling, or a whisper in your ear giving you clues to what you should be curious about. I choose the word curiosity over passion as passion is not always available to us.  When it is, it is truly fantastic but many also struggle to find their passion, searching for it high and low, looking for that lightning bolt to light them up and often ending up feeling lost. When you are open to it, curiosity is present, motivating you to explore and learn new things. Curiosity initiates the search for insights, and through this passion can be bornFollowing your curiosity allows you to live a creative life because your curiosity will be truly unique to you!

In Kinesiology we understand the importance of curiosity when working with our clients. We understand that we are only as good as the questions we ask. For example, when working with physical pain; When did the pain start? Was there something happening around this time?  How are you feeling about your life? etc. Rather than solely treating the pain we are treating the underlying root of the pain to get lasting results for our clients. It is also important for our clients to be curious about themselves, as it is through making the unknown known that we have the power to change our lives and the lives of those around us. So get curious, so you can live your most creative and passionate life!
